Trump new tariffs on China – A hidden opportunity for India?

We all know, the US President Donald Trump has always been vocal about the stance on China. Recently he made again by proposing tariffs up to 145℅ on Chinese imports sending a shockwaves through global trades circles. This is the massive jump than the earlier 45℅ tariffs he mades which already led to a significant escalation in US and CHINA trade war.
In response to Trump 90 days pause on reciprocal tariffs affecting 75 countries including India. The Indian commerce minister Piyush goyal slammed for calling US tariffs “opportunity of a lifetime”china facing pressure from the US global companies that rely heavily on Chinese manufacturing are beginning to look elsewhere. India stands out as a stronger alternative, initiative puts India in a favourable position
Facing pressure on multiple fronts China is trying to build a broader coalition to counter balance the US aggressive trades policies. China is pitching the idea of Multiateralism and regional cooperation inviting India to side with it on trades matter.
So far India has not officially responded to China call. Commerce minister Piyush goyal recently asked about Global trades alliances, maintained that India makes decision on based on its national intrest not under pressure on influence. Experts believe China offers is more about strategic optics that genuine partnership.we all know that India and China have long standing political tension especially border clashes and trust remains low.
We also should not forget that India has also been strengthening its trades relationship with other European countries including the US India can turn this global tension in to a new national advantage. Sector like electronic, pharmaceutical, textile and others
While US, CHINA trade war can stir uncertainty in global market it may also open new doors for India. If India play it’s card’s right. The impact could translate in to more jobs, more factories and stronger role in global trades.
