Indian Rafale Jets Patrol Near LoC Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions

Srinagar: In a strategic move following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed four Rafale fighter jets for a high-altitude patrol near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on the night of April 29. The air patrol, which remained strictly within Indian airspace, aimed to reinforce border surveillance and demonstrate military readiness.
This action follows the April 22 terror strike that killed 26 civilians and triggered nationwide security concerns. In response, Indian forces have increased their operational alert along the LoC and intensified surveillance missions in sensitive sectors.
According to Pakistan’s state media, the PAF scrambled jets immediately, which allegedly caused the Indian aircraft to retreat. The report described the situation as a “panic retreat” by the Indian side. However, Indian defense sources denied these claims, asserting that the Rafales were conducting routine training exercises within Indian airspace and not crossing into Pakistani territory
