China, Pakistan & Bangladesh Push SAARC – Will It Affect India’s Role in the Region?

Recently, China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have shown new interest in the South Asian group called SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). This move is making many wonder — could India’s position in the region be affected?

China is not a member of SAARC but has observer status and wants to get more involved. Pakistan is also trying to give SAARC more strength, and now Bangladesh seems to be supporting that idea too. The three countries are talking about working together to boost SAARC’s role in the region.

This is important because India has always played a major role in SAARC. But due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, SAARC has not been very active in recent years. India has instead focused more on other groups like BIMSTEC and the Quad.

Now, if China starts influencing SAARC more with support from Pakistan and Bangladesh, India might face challenges in keeping its leadership strong in South Asia.

Many experts believe this could either bring SAARC back to life or create more division between member countries. The big question is: Will India re-join SAARC talks more actively, or will it continue focusing on other partnerships?

Only time will tell. But one thing is sure — South Asia’s power game is shifting.
